An insightful storyteller and natural conversationalist, LARRY MCCLOSKEY offers grounded, thought-provoking dialogue on life, loss, and meaning.
Larry McCloskey is a Social Work Psychotherapist, an award-winning author, and founding director of Carleton University’s Paul Menton Centre for Students with Disabilities. His writing blends compassion, irony, and moral depth, exploring faith, loss, identity, and the search for home.
For decades, LM has fought for tangible gains that lead to equality of opportunity for vulnerable populations within the post-secondary sector. Today, merit is often surrendered to aspirational and unachievable equality of outcome in the name of identity politics. Larry argues that the emphasis on immutable identity parts can be divisive, shielding us from seeing and celebrating what we have in common. Larry draws on decades in higher education to illuminate the quiet dignity and resilience of ordinary lives. His novels and essays weave humour, grief, and hope, inviting readers to seek grace in unexpected places.
Larry lives in Ottawa with his wife, three daughters, and three granddaughters.
